The 5th Annual Louisiana Melon Run took place on Saturday, July 30th. This year’s ride boasted 156 participants from a 250 mile radius, from as far away as DeRidder, Louisiana and Camden, Arkansas. The majority of participants were from Union, Lincoln, Ouachita, Morehouse, Franklin, Bossier, Richland, Claiborne, West Carroll, Caddo, and Catahoula Parishes. We also have several riders that came down from Calion, El Dorado, Magnolia, and Smackover, Arkansas. Riders began in Farmerville and rode to West Monroe, Ruston, Bernice and back to Farmerville. They drew numbered cards at each stop in an attempt to win cash prizes. This year’s winners were Tommy Akers from Collinston, who won $150 for first place, Shane Dye from Farmerville, who won $100 for second place and Summer Doss from Farmerville, who won $50 for third place.
